Security Policy

At PatentScan, we are committed to safeguarding your personal and sensitive data. We apply a combination of technical, administrative, and physical security measures to ensure the protection of the data we handle.

Below are the key security measures we employ:

  • Data Encryption: We use HTTPS to encrypt data transmitted between your device and our servers
  • Access Control: Access to sensitive data is strictly limited to authorized personnel only
  • Secure Infrastructure: We host our services on AWS with industry-standard security certifications
  • Regular Security Audits: We conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments
  • Firewalls and Intrusion Detection: We employ firewalls and IDS to prevent unauthorized access
  • Data Backup and Recovery: Regular data backups are performed with secure storage
  • Logging and Monitoring: We actively monitor systems for suspicious activities
  • Third-Party Service Providers: We ensure all providers meet high security standards
  • Security Breach Response: We have a robust incident response plan in place

7. Logging Practices for API Queries

PatentScan does not practice remote logging for search API query requests and responses. Logs remain on the host that runs the web server and are not shipped off-host to a remote endpoint. API request/response logging is disabled on any intermediate hops.

Any patent data — your client-sensitive data — that's sent as a search query will not be logged remotely or on an intermediate hop. The data will be kept on the AWS EC2 instance for a period of 7 days, after which it is automatically deleted as per our configured log rotation policy.

8. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. However, we may share your information with trusted third parties for the following reasons:

  • To comply with legal obligations or respond to legal processes
  • To perform services on our behalf (e.g., payment processing, analytics)

These third parties are obligated to protect your personal information and are not authorized to use it for their own purposes.

9. Third-Party Websites and Links

Our Website may contain links to third-party websites. We do not control these external sites and are not responsible for their privacy practices. These websites may have their own privacy policies, which you should review when visiting them.

PatentScan is not intended for use by children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected personal data from a child under 13, we will delete this information immediately.

11. Data Security

PatentScan uses advanced security technologies to ensure the protection of your personal data. These include encryption protocols and access controls. However, please note that while we strive to protect your data, no data transmission or storage method can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.
